Expert Surgical Care

We are committed to providing you and your pet with excellent surgical care at our hospital. The majority of surgeries are able to be performed in-house by our dedicated team. If your pet requires a more complex surgery, we can bring in an additional, expert surgeon for the procedure. Your pet will be well taken care of before, during, and after surgery.

What to Expect on Surgery Day

Our compassionate team will ensure you are fully informed about the surgery process. Your pet will need pre-anesthesia blood work, and if labs are within normal range, we will do the surgery in the morning. You will receive a call afterwards with an update on how your beloved pet did during surgery. We will provide you with discharge instructions and ensure you understand your role for post-surgical care, including activity restrictions and any plans for physical therapy.

During surgery, you can rest assured that a technician is closely monitoring your pet’s vitals. They ensure vitals are within normal limits during surgery by watching trends in:

  • Blood pressure
  • Oxygenation
  • Heart rate
  • Heart rhythm
  • Body temperature

The close observation doesn’t end there as a technician will stay with your pet in the recovery room until they are fully awake. Once your pet is awake, they will be moved to a monitoring recovery area.

If it is possible, we will try to reunite you with your pet on the same day as surgery. We recognize that the thought of your pet undergoing surgery can be quite anxiety-inducing, so we want you to feel informed and supported through the entire process. We are happy to take the time to answer any questions you may have.

If your pet has an upcoming surgery and you have any additional questions about the procedure, please call us.
